Hook Flower & Produce Show

HOOK FLOWER & PRODUCE SHOW  – Sunday 10th September

The Hook Flower & Produce Show will take place on Sunday 12th September (from 2pm to 4.30pm) in Elizabeth Hall.  It will build on previous Flower and Produce Shows first held by Hook Allotments Association in 2014. 2020’s event will consist of the Flower and Produce Show in the main hall of Elizabeth Hall, supported by a traditional village tea room and other fundraising for Hook In Bloom. Hook In Bloom, Hook Allotments Association and Hook Village Halls are working together to stage the show. The eagerly awaited results of the Hook In Bloom competition will also be announced with District Councillor Jonathan Glen presenting the prizes. It is thanks to our sponsors and village fundraising that we can continue to hold the show. More information below………………………

HOOK FLOWER & PRODUCE SHOW Sunday 10th September 2023.  We are planning for next year’s Show. As before, you may want some forewarning of some categories so that you can start practicing. Most of the vegetable, flower and produce categories are fairly standard and we hope that everyone will enjoy growing and making their best entries.  A full list will be soon be available on the HAA and In Bloom websites and it is planned to deliver a list and entry form to every house later in the year. Some of the changes for this year include: Produce We are keeping the Celebration gateau but this year other categories include Loaf of Bread, Tea loaf or fruit loaf, Tray Bake (3 squares) and 3-egg round Victoria sandwich. Photography Sunrise/Sunset, Flower(s) and/or Fungi, People (single or group), Wildlife and Macro (close-up). Pre-School – (Group or individual) We are seeking a Collage entry from as many individual children as possible but also ask that each of the pre-school groups exhibit a group entry. Under 9s Decorated gingerbread people (new); Painting or drawing; Cookies/biscuits x 4 Under 15 years Categories this year (see list for full details) include Vegemal ; Lego model; and Cup Cakes – decorated x 3 (new). We are also including a separate children’s photo category (Domestic Animal Photograph). Scarecrow Competition

WIN PRIZES FOR CREATING THE BEST SCARECROWS

As its likely that staycations will be our holiday option this year, to help bring cheer and give families something to do in the school holidays Hook In Bloom is organising a Scarecrow Competition for Hook and surrounding villages.  

The winning scarecrow will receive £20 in Amazon vouchers with 2 runners up each winning £10 in vouchers.  

Judging will be at Hook Flower & Produce Show on Sunday 10th September from 2 to 3.45pm. All scarecrows must be delivered between Noon and 1pm. The scarecrows will be displayed and then everyone can vote. Voting slips will be given out, you choose your favourite scarecrow and the slips will be counted up before prize giving.
